Ardha Uttanasana derives its name from Sanskrit where ‘Ardha’ means half, ‘Ut’ means intense, ‘Tan’ means to stretch, and ‘Asana’ means seat or pose. Even though it is an intense stretch, this pose relaxes the body and prepares for intermediate and advanced poses.
