Combining bananas and milk is known to directly lead to skin diseases such as rashes and vitiligo, stomach ulceration and acid problems.
Eating them together can diminish agni (gastric fire) and change the intestinal flora, resulting in toxins and imbalances causing sinus congestion, cold, cough, allergies, hives, and rashes. Such disturbances generate ama, the toxic substance that is the root cause of most ailments.
Although bananas are generally sweet to taste and give a cooling energy, their post-digestive effect is very different – bananas are sour while milk is sweet. Bananas have what is known as a sour aftertaste or ‘vipaka.’ Once in the stomach, they react negatively with milk (think of curdled milk).
Particularly to be avoided are such concoctions as banana milkshakes and ‘fruit smoothies’ made with milk.
