With the exact cause being unknown, dysthymia is a form of depression with fewer symptoms as compared to major depression, and hence, tends to be ignored in majority causes!

Dysthymia is a continuous form of depression with the severity of symptoms varying. However, the symptoms are less severe than major depression and it interferes with daily activities, resulting in other medical conditions. A few signs and symptoms experienced by an individual suffering from dysthymia include:

  • Loss of interest in daily activities
  • Excessive anger
  • Avoidance of social activities
  • Lack of energy

The exact cause of dysthymia is not known, and hence it goes unnoticed by many. A few individuals even accept it as part of their life and don’t seek any medical help.
