Thought to be a safe beverage if consumed in limits, it ultimately leads to a chronic disease, alcoholism; also called alcohol addiction!
Addiction to alcohol is confirmed when an individual is not able to manage or control its drinking habits. Alcohol addiction or alcoholism is termed as a chronic health disease and is also a preventable cause of death. However, the sign and symptoms are either ignored or not identified due to lack of awareness. Therefore, a few signs and symptoms that indicate alcohol addiction include:
- Drinking to relax or feel better
- Being unable to stop once you start
- Lying about or hiding you are drinking
- Drinking during work hours or while driving
- Blacking out
- Neglecting work or household responsibilities
